I'm in Austin still, for my last night. I'm going to pack up and start heading east sometime tomorrow (Sunday), although I have tweaked my plans slightly.
I think that I'm going to skip Florida, because aside from the geographical uniqueness, there's not much to do there. I mean, sure, there's some cool touristy shit (like Cape Canaveral / Kennedy Space Center), but with the few days off that I've taken here in Austin, I wouldn't have time to do that kinda stuff, and other then that, there's not much good in Florida. It's not like I know anyone specifically to visit there, or have something in mind that I really want to do. It's all pancake-flat with lots of traffic and bugs. And at this point, to make it to Key West and then NYC on time, I'd have to burn a hell of a lot of miles. Not something that actually sounds fun
So I'll just head to NYC, going through the mountains. I'll have a few more days to kill just messing around on fun twisty roads, and won't have to worry as much about making a specific number of miles per day.
Right now I think I'm going to head down in the vague direction of Huston, and stick to the coast, going through New Orleans. Then into Mississippi, I have a friend stationed there, then heading northeast.
A rest for the riding has been nice, but at this point, I'm itching to get back to it.
